    I built my first studio in 1978, and have built or reworked so many that I can't recall......So many tricks and solutions under my belt.......Great upload.......ane cool trick I learned from Bruce Fairbairn's world famous 'Armoury Studios' build in Vancouver (KISS, Yes, Seal, Metallica, Aerosmith.......) - floating your whole floor on hockey pucks. In Vancouver, he needed to 'float the floor', to isolate it from the sound of large trucks, trains nearby, etc........................Very useful video - good for you

    Hi Boo, the best review of the sh1 so far 👌🏻. In your opinion based on the sound quality the sh1 provides compared to other vintage, what would be a fair price?

    • @BOOelectric
      @BOOelectric 7 часов назад

      So what constitutes a "fair price" these days basically means "what people are prepared to pay", and a brief glance around for SH1 prices shows that right now, we can expect to pay well above 2,000 for an SH. This, in my opinion, is anything but fair, but it seems to be the norm. I wish that maybe 500 - 1,000 was the norm. That would be closer to "fair", I think, but we don't live in that world. I'm not sure what the original price of an SH1, corrected for inflation would be, probably 2 or 3 grand. Sorry for rambling, but prices are crazy, and I think I'm just annoyed that I didn't buy that whiteface Odyssey for 200 quid in 2003! The thing that gets me most is that analogue synths could be so cheap thru the 90s, and now they're not, all based on perception. Sorry, but I can't answer your question, but I can tell you this: I'd sell a kidney before I sold mine!

      @@BOOelectric well i just literally bought one and your answer was very clear “ IF YOU LIKE IT SELL THE KIDNEY AND BUY IT” 😂. Fun story i never liked any roland monophonic synth neither the expensive sh5 neither sh7 they sound too metallic and ringy to my ears, i much prefer Oberheims and all yamaha cs series especially cs10 bass/lead are like nothing else to me) but than you demo thus and for some wired reason i like “geez Louise” what a tone. There is special depth in the sound of 1 VCO synths korgMS10, yamahaCS10, arp axxe etc. anyway cheers Boo 🍻

    Hi there! Cool overview of the volca keys! Love it. The "llttle lights" in there are the signal for the machine self-tuning its oscillators, constantly. So, the 3 oscillators are most of the time in-sync esp. when the machine is being on for more then 10 minutes or so.

    Can you make good monophonic lead and bass patches by any chance?? Anyone...thanks !

    • @BOOelectric
      @BOOelectric 13 дней назад

      The Opsix should be more than capable of mono bass and lead sounds, though I haven't yet put it to these tasks as there's always a choise of monphonic analogue synths around. The fact that it's a bit more than just an FM synth, and that it's multiple engines can transform it into a virtual analogue, or a virtual modular madness machine lead me to believe that if I only had the Opsix, I would probably be ok. One thing I will say is that programming is not always as immediate as I'd like, and some of the digital oscillators might be described as a bit thin, but if you put the time in, it can yield pretty convincing fatness. Here's a link to some bass examples I found: ruclips.net/video/in2mV30UQ8I/видео.html And here are some leads: ruclips.net/video/BPXsbvVPm1U/видео.html Hope that helps!
